Hi, I'm Kim, the creator of THE PAPER and half of Kim and Randy Power Washing. I started with degrees in Business, Marketing, Advertising, and Journalism, winning Ford Motor Company's Marketing Excellence Award early in my career. I transitioned to running power washing businesses for the last several decades which allowed me to focus on family while continuing to thrive.

I originally ran my own power washing business in the Lansing/Brighton/Howell area. After marrying my husband Randy, who owned his own power washing company in Oakland County, we combined our efforts. We also absorbed the business of a friend, which helped bridge the geographical gap between our two areas.

Advertising has changed a lot, and I wanted a top-notch magazine to showcase my company's ad. I quickly made a dream list of what that magazine should have. Of course, there was nothing like that around. So, that very day, I decided to create THE PAPER.

My Story
Having been successful in advertising and being a contractor myself, I have a unique insight into the needs of businesses like ours. When the economy slowed down and we found ourselves in need of more advertising options, I sat down and listed out everything I didn't want in a magazine and everything I did. That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands and create The Paper
All of the magazines have their forte. However, they are all overwhelmed with too much. Too many pages. Too much direct competition. Too many options. Great-looking ads became a noise of clutter. And we all pay a lot of money to be in those magazines, hoping to be seen, hoping the magazine is even opened and not instantly thrown into the trash.

The Paper distinguishes itself through its unique approach — from limiting the number of pages in each issue to its flowing design, grouping like contractors, and the deliberate limit on contractors per issue. We craft articles to entice readers to delve deeper into its pages.

Yes, I can make more money building a great big book and selling as many ads as I can. However, I would be just like the rest and what is the point? I'm not wasting my time. My parents brought us up to be the best we could be all the time. In my opinion, THE PAPER is the best magazine to advertise in. If THE PAPER gets too big, I will split the book and make another. Our advertisers will always be exclusive.
